Architecture is a photographic series representing everyday architectural urban features that serve a practical purpose but are typically ignored, such as stairs, railings, walls, fences, pipes, kerbs, concrete blocks et cetera. The project is about revealing the formal beauty and character of those things we see everyday but deem uninteresting and often dismiss as purely utilitarian city artefacts. My aim is to show the surprising beauty and originality that can be found in ordinary objects on the street, and make people reconsider, and perhaps value, the urban environment they live in. The series uses the interplay of light and shadow to reveal unexpected urban forms that are somewhat absurd yet exude personality and offer a touch of humour. It is playful at heart and meant as a poetic response to urban boringness; an attempt to capture a certain kind of beauty that is intangible and fleeting, and easily goes unnoticed.
